If you have important data stored on Dropbox, you may want some extra protection, instead of relying on a single password. Ensafer can provide you with the protection you need for your sensitive data. It is capable of encrypting any data you send to Dropbox, using the latest RSA and AES algorithms. The best part is that it doesn't complicate Dropbox. You can still upload and share your files without any distractions.
Ensafer's functionality is quite simple and easy to understand. When launched, the application will ask you to create an online account or to sign into an existing one, after which it will connect to Dropbox. The application will create its own sync folder, which can be accessed instantly through an icon on the menu bar. You can also find it in the Favorites section, in the Finder, next to the Dropbox folder.
Encrypting one or more files is as easy as uploading them with Dropbox. All you have to do is click and drag the items to Ensafer's sync folder. The data will be uploaded to Dropbox as usual, but it will be encrypted first. Encrypted items will be stored in a new folder in Dropbox, with different names and extensions.
The original files will remain unencrypted and accessible on your local disk, so you can still open them without any problems. If you wish to send the files to someone, you can share them through an email invitation.
Pros
Ensafer is similar to Dropbox, in terms of functionality. The application is capable of protecting data with high-grade encryption algorithms. Also, Ensafer comes with its own secure sharing feature.
Cons
For the moment, Ensafer works only with Dropbox. With its powerful encryption capabilities, Ensafer can enhance the functionality of Dropbox considerably.
